In the past I’ve avoided visiting the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve at low tide. My best spots for birds are nearly impossible to get to. However I was really Jonsing for a paddle so I wet yesterday morning. My entire attitude about low tide changed drastically after that paddle. There were birds everywhere! Likely do the fall migrations but oh my what fun! I found several Marbled Godwits feeding in a little pool formed by oyster reefs surrounding the shallow area. Their long bills make them a fun bird to observe. Here’s a few shots.
