Live Oak Trees of the Elliot Couse Nature Trail

The Elliot Couse Nature Trail is one of the Crown Jewels of Fort Macon State Park. The trail passes through maritime forest, wetlands and the sand dunes along the beach. When making this hike I’m always impressed by the Live Oak trees growing along the path. Each tree offers a unique pattern of twisting and turning limbs. They are a thing of beauty to behold.

Below is a collection of some of the photos I’ve made of these magnificent trees. In some cases they are different compositions of the same tree. Perhaps taken at different times of day. In others they are unique, first (for me) photos of an individual tree. Some presented in color. Others shown in black and white.

I hope you find these trees as inspiring as I do. If so, perhaps you’ll share a comment below. I’d love to hear your thoughts. If so inclined prints can be purchased at http://bob-decker.pixels.com. The site also offers a variety of products such as posters, beach bags, tee-shirts and more!
