Impromtu Trip to the Beach

I had some business near Atlantic Beach yesterday evening so I figured I might as well stop by the beach and see if I could find a bird or two to photograph. Not too surprisingly there were plenty of sea gulls around, along with plovers, terns, and other shorebirds. One bird that I always enjoy watching is the Sanderling. This tiny little birds run in and out of the surf, foraging for a snack to the delight of beach walkers, sun bathers and other beach goers. Below are a couple of quick snaps from the visit.

Sanderlings are a popular sight for beach goers.

A very small shore bird, the sanderlings dart in and out of the surf line.
