A Mixed Bag of Shore Birds

Here’s a mixed bag of shorebirds taken along Bird Shoal: Osprey… aka Sea Hawk or Sea Eagle… Black Skimmer, Willet. The Osprey is a migratory bird in the Carolinas. They will soon be heading south for their winter homes in South America.

Osprey are also sometimes referred to as Sea Hawks or Sea Eagles.

A Black Skimmer flies above Bird Shoal on North Carolina's Crystal Coast.

Bird Shoal is located in the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve near Beaufort, NC.

A Willet along Taylor's Creek near Beaufort, North Carolina.
